Duchy of Baden
The Duchy of Baden was a historical state located in what is now southwestern Germany. It emerged in the early 19th century and became a duchy in 1806, following the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. The region was known for its diverse landscapes, including the Black Forest and the Rhine River.
Baden played a significant role in German history, particularly during the German Confederation and later the German Empire. The duchy was known for its progressive policies, including early adoption of civil rights and education reforms. It was eventually incorporated into the State of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.
