Duchy of Holland
The Duchy of Holland was a historical region in the western part of the present-day Netherlands. Established in the 11th century, it became an important political and economic center in medieval Europe. The duchy was known for its trade, agriculture, and strategic location along the North Sea.
In the 15th century, the Duchy of Holland was incorporated into the larger Duchy of Burgundy, which expanded its influence. Eventually, it became part of the Habsburg Netherlands and later the Dutch Republic. The region played a significant role in shaping the history and culture of the Netherlands.
