Duchy Of Limburg
The Duchy of Limburg was a historical region located in present-day Belgium and Netherlands. It emerged in the 9th century and became a significant political entity in the Middle Ages. The duchy was known for its strategic location and was often contested by neighboring powers.
In 1288, the duchy was incorporated into the Duchy of Brabant after the Battle of Worringen. Over the centuries, the Duchy of Limburg changed hands multiple times, reflecting the complex feudal relationships of the era. Today, the name is preserved in the Limburg provinces of both Belgium and the Netherlands.
