Drive Types
Drive types refer to the different systems that transmit power from a vehicle's engine to its wheels. The most common types include front-wheel drive (FWD), where the front wheels receive power, and rear-wheel drive (RWD), where the rear wheels are powered. There are also all-wheel drive (AWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) systems, which distribute power to all four wheels for better traction in various conditions.
Each drive type has its advantages and disadvantages. FWD vehicles typically offer better fuel efficiency and handling in wet conditions, while RWD vehicles provide improved performance and handling in dry conditions. AWD and 4WD systems are ideal for off-road driving and challenging weather, enhancing stability and control.
