Dream Act
The Dream Act is a legislative proposal in the United States aimed at providing a pathway to legal status for certain undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children. It allows eligible individuals, often referred to as "Dreamers," to apply for conditional permanent residency if they meet specific criteria, such as pursuing education or serving in the military.
Introduced in various forms since 2001, the Dream Act has garnered support from many lawmakers and advocacy groups. However, it has faced significant political challenges and has not yet been passed into law, leaving many Dreamers in uncertain legal situations.
