Dravidian Parties
Dravidian Parties are political organizations primarily based in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. They emerged in the early 20th century, advocating for the rights and welfare of the Dravidian people, who are native to southern India. These parties focus on social justice, anti-caste discrimination, and regional autonomy, often promoting the Tamil language and culture.
The two most prominent Dravidian Parties are the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Both parties have played significant roles in Tamil Nadu's politics, influencing policies and governance since the mid-20th century. Their ideologies often emphasize secularism and social equity.
