Dracaena draco
Dracaena draco, commonly known as the dragon tree, is a unique evergreen tree native to the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, and Morocco. It is characterized by its thick, trunk-like stem and rosettes of sword-shaped leaves that can grow up to three feet long. The tree can reach heights of up to 30 feet and is known for its distinctive, umbrella-like crown.
The dragon tree produces a red resin called dragon's blood, which has been used historically for medicinal and dye purposes. This species thrives in arid environments and is well-adapted to withstand drought, making it a popular choice for ornamental landscaping in dry regions.
