Double-Crested Cormorant
The Double-Crested Cormorant is a large waterbird found across North America. It has a long neck, a hooked bill, and distinctive double crests on its head during the breeding season. These birds are often seen diving underwater to catch fish, which makes up the majority of their diet.
Typically, they prefer coastal areas, lakes, and rivers for nesting. Their nests are usually built in trees or on cliffs, and they can be identified by their dark plumage and bright orange throat pouch. The Double-Crested Cormorant plays an important role in aquatic ecosystems by helping to control fish populations.
