Doosra
The "Doosra" is a type of delivery used in the game of cricket, primarily by off-spin bowlers. It is a deceptive delivery that spins in the opposite direction to a standard off-spin ball, confusing the batsman. The term "Doosra" means "the second one" in Hindi, indicating its role as a surprise element in a bowler's arsenal.
The Doosra was popularized by former Pakistani cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq in the 1990s. To execute the Doosra, the bowler uses a different grip and wrist position, allowing the ball to turn away from a right-handed batsman instead of into them. This variation can lead to crucial wickets in a match.
