V-1 flying bomb
The V-1 flying bomb, also known as the "buzz bomb," was an early cruise missile developed by Nazi Germany during World War II. It was designed to carry an explosive payload and travel at high speeds towards its target, using a pulsejet engine for propulsion. The V-1 was launched from ground sites and aimed primarily at cities like London.
The V-1 had a range of about 150 miles and could reach speeds of up to 400 miles per hour. Its guidance system was relatively simple, relying on a preset distance to determine when to detonate. The weapon was first used in 1944 and caused significant destruction and civilian casualties.
