Dona Beatriz
Dona Beatriz, also known as Beatriz Kimpa Vita, was a prominent figure in the early 18th century in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She claimed to be a prophetess and sought to unite the people of the Kongo Kingdom by promoting a return to traditional beliefs and practices, while also opposing colonial influences from Portugal.
Her movement gained significant support, leading to a brief period of religious and political revival. However, Dona Beatriz was eventually captured and executed in 1706, which marked the decline of her influence and the fragmentation of the Kongo Kingdom.
