Don Haskins
Don Haskins was an American basketball coach best known for his time at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He led the UTEP Miners to a national championship in 1966, making history by starting an all-Black lineup in the final game against the University of Kentucky, which was coached by the legendary Adolph Rupp.
Haskins was born on March 4, 1930, in Enid, Oklahoma. Over his 38-year coaching career, he became a pioneer in college basketball, advocating for racial integration in sports. His contributions to the game earned him a place in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
