Dolmens of Antequera
The Dolmens of Antequera are a group of ancient megalithic structures located in the province of Málaga, Spain. These burial sites date back to the Neolithic and Copper Ages, around 4,000 years ago. The most notable dolmens include Dolmen de Menga, Dolmen de Viera, and Tholos de El Romeral, which showcase impressive stone construction techniques.
These dolmens are significant for their alignment with astronomical events, particularly the solstices. They are part of a larger archaeological landscape that includes the nearby El Torcal natural park. In 2016, the Dolmens of Antequera were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing their cultural and historical importance.
