Dipteran
Dipterans are insects belonging to the order Diptera, characterized by having two wings. This group includes familiar species such as flies, mosquitoes, and gnats. Dipterans are known for their unique mouthparts, which are adapted for various feeding habits, including sucking, piercing, and sponging.
Dipterans undergo a complete metamorphosis, which includes four life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Many species play essential roles in ecosystems, such as pollination and decomposition, while others can be pests or vectors for diseases, like malaria and dengue fever.
