Diponegoro
Diponegoro was a prominent Indonesian prince and military leader known for his role in the Java War, which took place from 1825 to 1830. Born in 1785, he was the son of Sultan Hamengkubuwono III of Yogyakarta. Diponegoro opposed Dutch colonial rule and sought to establish an independent Javanese state.
His leadership and strategic skills rallied many followers, leading to a significant uprising against the Dutch. Despite initial successes, the war ended in defeat for Diponegoro, who was captured in 1830. He was later exiled to Makassar, where he lived until his death in 1855.
