Diosdado Macapagal
Diosdado Macapagal was a Filipino politician who served as the 9th President of the Philippines from 1961 to 1965. Born on September 28, 1914, he was a lawyer and a member of the Philippine House of Representatives before becoming president. Macapagal is known for his efforts to promote social justice and land reform, particularly through the implementation of the Agrarian Reform Law.
During his presidency, Macapagal focused on economic development and improving the lives of the poor. He also played a significant role in the establishment of the Philippine Commission on Good Government to address corruption. After his term, he continued to be active in politics and public service until his death on April 21, 1997.
