Dinosaur Jr. is an American alternative rock band formed in 1984 in Amherst, Massachusetts. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph. Known for their distinctive sound that blends heavy guitar riffs with melodic elements, they played a significant role in the development of the slacker rock and grunge genres. The band's early albums, such as You're Living All Over Me and Bug, received critical acclaim and helped establish their influence in the music scene.
