Dikpalas
The term "Dikpalas" refers to the eight deities in Hindu mythology who are believed to protect the cardinal directions. Each Dikpala is associated with a specific direction and is responsible for safeguarding that area. The eight Dikpalas are Indra (East), Agni (Southeast), Yama (South), Nirriti (Southwest), Varuna (West), Vayu (Northwest), Kubera (North), and Ishana (Northeast).
In Hindu temples, the presence of Dikpalas is often symbolized through statues or images, serving as guardians of the sacred space. Devotees may invoke these deities for protection and blessings, emphasizing their importance in maintaining harmony and safety within the universe.
