Dewan Negara
The Dewan Negara is the upper house of the Parliament of Malaysia. It plays a crucial role in the legislative process, reviewing and approving laws proposed by the lower house, known as the Dewan Rakyat. Members of the Dewan Negara are appointed, with some representing the states and others nominated by the King.
The Dewan Negara consists of 70 members, serving three-year terms. This chamber ensures that various interests, including those of the states and minority groups, are represented in the legislative process. Its functions include debating bills, discussing national issues, and providing checks and balances within the Malaysian government.
