Deviated Septum
A deviated septum occurs when the thin wall between the nasal passages, called the septum, is displaced to one side. This condition can lead to breathing difficulties, nasal congestion, and increased susceptibility to sinus infections. It can be caused by genetics or injury to the nose.
Many people with a deviated septum may not experience significant symptoms, while others may require treatment. Options include medications to manage symptoms or surgery, known as septoplasty, to correct the deviation and improve airflow through the nasal passages.
