Desert Toad
The Desert Toad, also known as the Sonoran Desert Toad, is a large amphibian native to the arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is characterized by its warty skin, which helps it retain moisture in its dry habitat. This toad is primarily nocturnal, emerging at night to hunt for insects and other small prey.
Desert Toads are known for their ability to burrow into the ground to escape extreme heat and drought. They can survive long periods without water by entering a state of dormancy. Their distinctive call, a deep, resonant croak, is often heard during the rainy season when they breed.
