Derris
Derris is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, known for its climbing vines and attractive foliage. These plants are primarily found in tropical regions and are often used in traditional medicine. Some species, like Derris elliptica, contain compounds that can act as natural insecticides.
The roots of certain Derris species have been historically used to produce a natural pesticide called rotenone, which is effective against various pests. However, due to its toxicity to fish and other aquatic life, the use of rotenone has become controversial and is regulated in many areas.
