Dermaptera
Dermaptera is an order of insects commonly known as earwigs. They are characterized by their elongated bodies and distinctive pincers, or cerci, at the rear. Earwigs typically have a flattened appearance and can range in size from 5 to 25 millimeters. They are mostly nocturnal and are often found in damp, dark environments.
Earwigs are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of organic materials, including decaying plant matter and small insects. They are known for their unique behavior of caring for their young, which is relatively rare among insects. Some species can also produce a foul-smelling liquid as a defense mechanism.
