Dental Structures
Dental structures refer to the various components that make up the teeth and surrounding tissues in the mouth. The main parts include the enamel, which is the hard outer layer protecting the tooth, and the dentin, a softer layer beneath the enamel. The pulp is the innermost part containing nerves and blood vessels, while the cementum covers the tooth root and helps anchor it to the jawbone.
In addition to the teeth, dental structures also encompass the gums and jawbone. The gums, or gingiva, support the teeth and protect the underlying bone. The alveolar bone is the part of the jaw that holds the tooth roots in place, providing stability and support for proper chewing and overall oral health.
