Dennis Martínez is a former professional baseball pitcher from Nicaragua. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams, including the Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, and New York Mets. Martínez is best known for his time with the Expos, where he became the first Nicaraguan to pitch in the MLB. Throughout his career, which spanned from 1976 to 1998, he achieved notable success, including a perfect game on July 28, 1991, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. After retiring, Martínez contributed to baseball as a coach and mentor, inspiring future generations of players from Latin America.
