Demilitarized Zone
A Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is an area where military forces and equipment are prohibited. It is often established to reduce tensions between conflicting nations and to prevent armed confrontations. DMZs can be created through treaties or agreements, and they serve as a buffer zone to promote peace and stability.
One of the most well-known DMZs is the one between North Korea and South Korea, established after the Korean War. This zone stretches approximately 2.5 miles wide and runs along the 38th parallel, acting as a barrier to military activities and fostering dialogue between the two countries.
