Delta Works
The Delta Works is a series of dams, sluices, locks, dikes, and storm surge barriers located in the southwestern part of the Netherlands. It was constructed to protect the land from flooding, especially after the devastating North Sea Flood of 1953. The project is considered one of the most impressive civil engineering feats in the world.
Completed in the 1990s, the Delta Works consists of 13 major structures that manage water levels and prevent storm surges. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding the low-lying areas of the Netherlands, ensuring the safety of its inhabitants and the preservation of its land.
