David Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 3rd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava
David Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 3rd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava (1826-1902), was a British statesman and diplomat. He served as the Governor General of Canada from 1872 to 1878, where he played a significant role in promoting Canadian unity and development. His tenure is noted for fostering relations between the English and French-speaking populations.
In addition to his role in Canada, Dufferin held various positions in the British government, including Under-Secretary of State for India. He was also involved in the administration of British India and contributed to discussions on colonial policy during his career.
