David Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava
David Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava (1826-1902), was a British nobleman and politician. He served as the Governor General of Canada from 1872 to 1878, where he played a significant role in promoting Canadian unity and development. His tenure is noted for fostering relations between the British Empire and the Canadian provinces.
In addition to his political career, Dufferin was an accomplished diplomat and served as the Viceroy of India from 1884 to 1888. He was known for his efforts in improving education and infrastructure in India, as well as for his interest in the arts and culture during his time in office.
