David Douglas
David Douglas was a Scottish botanist born in 1799, known for his extensive plant collecting in North America. He played a significant role in introducing many species of plants to Europe, including the famous Douglas fir, which is named after him. His explorations primarily took place in the Pacific Northwest, where he documented various flora and fauna.
Douglas's work contributed greatly to the field of botany and the understanding of North American ecosystems. He was associated with the Royal Horticultural Society and his findings helped shape the study of plants during the 19th century. Tragically, he died in 1834 while on an expedition in Hawaii.
