Darmstadtium
Darmstadtium is a synthetic element with the symbol Ds and atomic number 110. It was first created in 1994 by a team of scientists at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany. Darmstadtium is part of the transition metals and is classified as a member of the platinum group.
Due to its short half-life, which is less than a second, darmstadtium does not occur naturally and has no significant commercial applications. Its most stable isotope, Ds-281, has a half-life of about 12.7 hours, making it primarily of interest for scientific research in nuclear chemistry and physics.
