Dardic languages
The Dardic languages are a group of languages spoken primarily in the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, particularly in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They belong to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family and are characterized by their unique phonetic and grammatical features.
Dardic languages include several dialects, such as Shina, Kohistani, and Balti. These languages are influenced by the surrounding cultures and languages, reflecting the diverse history of the region. Despite their rich heritage, many Dardic languages face challenges in terms of preservation and recognition.
