Daniel Berrigan
Daniel Berrigan was an American Jesuit priest, poet, and peace activist, born on May 9, 1921. He became well-known for his opposition to the Vietnam War and his commitment to nonviolent protest. Berrigan was a key figure in the Catholic Worker Movement and used his writings and activism to advocate for social justice and peace.
Throughout his life, Berrigan was involved in various protests, including the famous Catonsville Nine action in 1968, where he and others burned draft files to protest the war. He authored several books of poetry and essays, reflecting his deep spiritual beliefs and commitment to activism until his death on April 30, 2016.
