Dacian civilization
The Dacian civilization thrived in the region that is now modern-day Romania and parts of Moldova from around 300 BC until the Roman conquest in 106 AD. The Dacians were known for their advanced agricultural practices, metalworking, and fortified settlements, often situated on hilltops for defense. They spoke a language related to the Thracian languages and had a rich spiritual life, worshipping various deities.
The Dacians are perhaps best known for their conflicts with the Roman Empire, particularly under the rule of Emperor Trajan. The Dacian Wars led to the eventual Roman conquest, which resulted in the incorporation of Dacia into the empire. This conquest significantly influenced the region's culture and development, leaving a lasting legacy in Romanian history.
