DOT3
DOT3 is a type of brake fluid commonly used in vehicles. It is a glycol-based fluid that absorbs moisture over time, which can lower its boiling point and affect braking performance. DOT3 fluid is suitable for most cars and light trucks, providing reliable braking under normal driving conditions.
The designation "DOT" stands for the Department of Transportation, which sets standards for brake fluids. DOT3 has a minimum dry boiling point of 205°C (401°F) and is compatible with other brake fluids like DOT4 and DOT5.1, but not with DOT5, which is silicone-based.
