DNA viruses
DNA viruses are a type of virus that use deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) as their genetic material. They can infect a variety of organisms, including humans, animals, and plants. These viruses replicate by entering a host cell and using the cell's machinery to produce new virus particles. Common examples of DNA viruses include the herpesvirus and the papillomavirus.
DNA viruses can be classified into two main groups: single-stranded (ssDNA) and double-stranded (dsDNA) viruses. Single-stranded DNA viruses have a single strand of DNA, while double-stranded DNA viruses have two complementary strands. Understanding DNA viruses is important for developing vaccines and treatments for the diseases they cause.
