Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the inside of the bladder and urethra. A thin, flexible tube called a cystoscope is inserted through the urethra into the bladder. This allows doctors to visualize any abnormalities, such as tumors, stones, or signs of infection.
The procedure is typically performed in a doctor's office or outpatient setting and may involve local anesthesia. Cystoscopy can also be used for diagnostic purposes or to perform minor treatments, such as removing tissue samples or bladder stones. It is generally safe, with minimal risks involved.
