Cynics (Skeptics)
Cynics, often referred to as skeptics, are individuals who question the motives and sincerity of others. They tend to doubt accepted beliefs and challenge conventional wisdom, often viewing the world with a critical eye. This perspective can lead to a more cautious approach to life, as cynics may be wary of trusting others or accepting information at face value.
Historically, the term "Cynic" originates from the ancient Greek school of philosophy known as Cynicism, which advocated for a life in accordance with nature and rejected societal norms. Modern cynics may not adhere to a specific philosophy but share a common tendency to be skeptical about the intentions behind actions and the validity of widely held beliefs.
