Cyclothymic Disorder is a mood disorder characterized by periods of hypomanic symptoms and periods of depressive symptoms lasting for at least two years in adults (one year in children and adolescents). These mood swings are less severe than those seen in Bipolar Disorder, but they can still disrupt daily life and relationships.
Individuals with Cyclothymic Disorder may experience fluctuating energy levels, changes in self-esteem, and difficulty concentrating. While the symptoms can be challenging, they do not meet the full criteria for a major depressive episode or a manic episode. Treatment often includes therapy and, in some cases, medication.
