Curonians
The Curonians were a Baltic tribe that inhabited the region of modern-day Latvia and Lithuania during the Middle Ages. They were known for their seafaring skills and lived along the Curonian Lagoon, which provided them with abundant resources. The Curonians engaged in trade and were influenced by neighboring cultures, including the Germans and Slavs.
In the 13th century, the Curonians faced invasions from the Teutonic Knights, leading to significant changes in their society. Many Curonians converted to Christianity, and their territory was gradually integrated into the Duchy of Courland. Over time, their distinct culture and language diminished, but their legacy remains part of the region's history.
