Curlews
Curlews are large wading birds known for their long, curved bills and distinctive calls. They belong to the family Scolopacidae and are commonly found in wetlands, mudflats, and coastal areas. There are several species of curlews, with the Eurasian Curlew and the Hudsonian Curlew being among the most recognized.
These birds primarily feed on invertebrates, such as worms and crustaceans, which they probe for in the mud. Curlews are migratory, traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds. Their populations are threatened in some regions due to habitat loss and hunting, making conservation efforts important for their survival.
