Cupeno
The Cupeno are a Native American tribe originally from Southern California, specifically the area around Palomar Mountain. They are part of the larger Luiseño group and have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional stories, music, and crafts. Historically, the Cupeno people lived in small villages and relied on hunting, gathering, and agriculture for their sustenance.
In the early 20th century, many Cupeno were relocated to the Pala Indian Reservation due to land disputes and pressures from settlers. Today, the Cupeno continue to preserve their cultural identity while participating in modern society, working to revitalize their language and traditions for future generations.
