Cumbrae Lighthouse
Cumbrae Lighthouse is located on the Isle of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. Built in 1859, it was designed by the renowned engineer Robert Stevenson, part of a family known for their contributions to lighthouse design. The lighthouse stands at 18 meters tall and features a distinctive white tower with a red band.
The lighthouse was automated in 1985, which means it no longer requires a keeper to operate. It plays a crucial role in guiding ships safely through the waters of the Clyde, ensuring safe navigation for both commercial and recreational vessels in the area.
