Cullinan Diamond
The Cullinan Diamond is the largest gem-quality diamond ever discovered, weighing an astonishing 3,106 carats. It was found in 1905 at the Cullinan Mine in South Africa. The diamond was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan, the mine's owner, and it quickly gained fame for its size and clarity.
In 1907, the Cullinan Diamond was presented to King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. It was later cut into several smaller gems, the most famous being the Cullinan I, also known as the Star of Africa, which weighs 530.2 carats and is part of the British Crown Jewels.
