Crown Prince Sado
Crown Prince Sado was a member of the Korean royal family during the late 18th century. Born in 1735, he was the son of King Yeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty. Sado is known for his tragic life, marked by mental health issues and a tumultuous relationship with his father, which ultimately led to his downfall.
In 1762, after years of conflict, King Yeongjo ordered Sado to be confined in a rice chest, where he died after eight days. This event has been a subject of historical interest and has influenced various cultural representations, including literature and film, highlighting the complexities of royal life in Korea.
