Croatian Nationalism
Croatian Nationalism is a political and cultural movement that seeks to promote the interests and identity of the Croatian people. It emerged in the 19th century as part of a broader trend of national awakening in Europe, emphasizing the importance of language, culture, and history in defining national identity.
The movement gained momentum during the 20th century, particularly during the Yugoslav period, when Croats sought greater autonomy and recognition within the multi-ethnic state. This nationalism played a significant role in the push for Croatia’s independence in the early 1990s, leading to the establishment of the Republic of Croatia.
