Croatian Counties
Croatia is divided into 20 counties, known as županije, which serve as the primary administrative divisions of the country. Each county has its own government and is responsible for local administration, education, and infrastructure. The capital city, Zagreb, is also a separate administrative unit, functioning as both a city and a county.
The counties vary in size, population, and economic activity. Some of the most populous counties include Zagreb County and Split-Dalmatia County, while others, like Lika-Senj County, are more rural. Each county has unique cultural and historical significance, contributing to Croatia's diverse heritage.
