Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) is a division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that provides a range of services to support law enforcement agencies across the United States. It manages various databases that contain criminal records, fingerprint information, and other vital data that help in criminal investigations and background checks.
CJIS also oversees the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), which allows law enforcement to access real-time information about stolen property, missing persons, and wanted individuals. By facilitating the sharing of critical information, CJIS enhances public safety and helps law enforcement agencies work more effectively.
