Cretan snake
The Cretan snake, also known as the Cretan snake or Malpolon insignitus, is a non-venomous species native to the island of Crete. It typically inhabits a variety of environments, including forests, grasslands, and rocky areas. This snake can grow up to 2 meters in length and is characterized by its slender body and distinctive coloration, which often includes shades of brown and yellow.
Cretan snakes are primarily diurnal, meaning they are active during the day. They feed on small mammals, lizards, and birds, using their speed and agility to catch prey. Despite their size, they are generally not aggressive towards humans and play an important role in the local ecosystem by controlling rodent populations.
