Crackling (Sound)
Crackling is a sharp, intermittent sound often associated with the breaking or snapping of materials. It can occur in various contexts, such as when wood burns in a fire, creating a series of quick, popping noises. This sound is produced by the rapid expansion and contraction of gases within the material as it heats up.
In addition to its presence in nature, crackling can also be heard in electronic devices, like radio static or popcorn popping. In these cases, the sound results from electrical interference or the rapid expansion of moisture within the kernels, respectively, creating a similar sharp auditory effect.
